The culture symposium on the 6th of November, 2021

During the opening weekend of the exhibition, “MagiC Carpets” partners will gather in Kaunas for a special one-day symposium (6 November 2021) open to the public with a wide programme of presentations and discussions by internationally renowned arts and culture field professionals. The symposium will focus on the topic of the “Working in public spaces” and explore the different practices and methods of engaging audiences through arts and culture activities in the public realm.

Symposium featuring international guests, including Hou Hanru, Lewis Biggs, Virginija Vitkienė and many others. Some featured artists will also participate.

KAUNAS PICTURE GALLERY Interactive Installation curated by Matthias Krinzinger where the visitors are invited to take part to a table football tournament. The installation is part of the project created during his residence in Croatia in 2019.

All the players wear the same blue soccer uniform because the intent is to subvert and challenge the concept of victory that is typical of sports tournaments, instead emphasising play, laughter and engagement, transforming winners into losers and losers into winners.

Interactive installation curated by Aistė Jančiūtė where the audience will be requested to literally give weight to their emotions and compare them with the weight of objects the artist has provided.

KAUNAS PICTURE GALLERY Workshop curated by Gildas Aleksa – A week for children from 8 to 10 years old to reimagine a new cultural centre that is child-friendly but suitable for all ages. The final presentation will be performed by children for an adult audience. 


INCLUSION WEEK


2 December
KAUNAS PICTURE GALLERY Performance curated by Veronica Troncoso – The artist will invite the local community to participate in a Chilean dinner and imagine a new form of social coexistence by sharing culinary experiences. Throughout the exhibit, the performance will be repeated several times, with foreigners living in Lithuania invited to share the cuisine of their home country with others.

11:00 AM AND 2:00 PM Interactive theatre tour and creative workshop, entitled Towards a new Erab, curated by Justas Tertelis and coming  from an idea of Benedetta Carpi De Resmini, to reimagine a new Europe, which will open the inaugural event for Kaunas 2022 – European Capital of Culture.
