Through collaboration with 5 further local artists, he developed a participatory (digital and interactive performance machine) performance piece that fit cleverly into a pizza box. Each box was home-delivered to the audience on a cargo bike in order to collect imaginative cityscapes through audience participation – descriptions, sounds and shapes. These individual perspectives were processed into videos – 20 individual “chapters” – and presented as “Epilog” online, as well as installation in a public space.

Interactive installation
Peter Lorenz project entitled Invisible Cities, was inspired by Italo Calvino’s novel and developed in
Innsbruck with the collaboration of artists from The Doing Group. During his residence with
openspace.innsbruck, he created an interactive performance by recording and collecting sounds,
noises and descriptions of the urban landscape and the sentimental relationships the people he
interviewed had with the city. Recording devices were placed inside pizza boxes, which the artist
delivered by cargo bike, house by house. The final installation for Magic Carpets Landed is composed of three towers of pizza boxes with devices telling the story of the invisible city on top. For the exhibition, Lorenz adapted extracts from the 20 chapters recorded in Innsbruck to recompose a new invisible city. With the intent of collecting “Words and Tales,” the exhibit section where the artist’s work is located (Picture Gallery), the interactive pizza boxes are inviting visitors to imagine new Invisible Cities.
