“A Country of Grandmas” is a collaboration work with a theatre collective perfomers. In Odeta Catana words it tells the story about “a life-long love and the ways our grannies raised us, taught, took care and annoyed us. It’s a story about reconciliation and coming of age. About Latvian population gradually growinging older. About awfully low pensions. About generations living together happily, about overcaring and family bonds.” First of all, each of performers interviewed their own grandmothers. Afterwards, they put all these interviews together, and they wrote a screenplay with the help of some screenwriters. She photographed all these grandmothers who are still alive. These photos were exhibited, as the final stage of the performance.
