SCORE is a collaborative process dealing with different relationships with Innsbruck. Participants are asked to respond to a series of “scores” aiming to trigger their sonic memory and to participate together in a collaborative composition dedicated to Innsbruck. The scores invite participants to submit sound material, which will be used, mixed and reinterpreted during the performance. This site-specific multi-channel sound performance is realized in cooperation with the bell foundry GRASSMAYER as part of Heart Of Noise Festival.

Sound Installation

Nicola Di Croce is an Italian architect, sound artist, musician, and scholar. In his artistic and academic practice, he perceives listening to urban sound environments as a way to explore the issues of vulnerable contexts and individuals influencing a city’s spatial and cultural transformations. During his residency with openspace.innsbruck, he developed the project entitled Three Collaborative Scores also thanks to the collaboration of several local artists. After a deep research, he invited participants and local artists to reflect on the sound environment they became accustomed to during lockdown, and particularly sounds linked to their memories of Innsbruck. Then he created a personal mix, and invited them to select fragments from those tracks, connecting them with Innsbruck and creating imaginary pathways within the city.  For the exhibition, Di Croce recreates a site-specific sound environment linked to Kaunas, recording sounds from the symbolic Žaliakalnis Funicular Railway (an interesting and old site in the city center) and mixing them to Innsbruck. This atmosphere is linking visitors directly to an imaginary new city.

/ The work plays every day at 1 pm at the Kaunas Railway Station /
