Luísa Sequeira is a Portuguese filmmaker. Working with film, video and photography, she explores the intersections between cinema, the world of design and new social media. Immediately attracted to images of the rural Romanian landscape and to the lively and curious community of children, with META Cultural Foundation she developed the project entitled The Power of Images. The results of her residency were two short experimental films: Născută and Nothing More Than Images. Născută (meaning born, for a feminine subject), murmurs an imaginary love story of a female character whose identity survives only in a small local cemetery. The artist was intrigued by a woman who died on the same day the artist was born. “Can an image whisper a love story to us?” “Does the end of our story belong to others?”. This story, inspired by the book A lover’s Discourse: Fragments by Roland Barthes, can be viewed in the Augmented Reality Guide. This chosen location, the former cemetery of the City, metaphorically creates a bridge with the local cemetery in Slon.
