DESCRIPTION:The series of talks entitled Follow the Waves… draws our attention to important subjects\, some of which have become everyday topics\, while other seem to be forgotten. \nThe series is set up as an opportunity for dialogue and reflection that led up to MagiC Carpets Landed Exhibition in Kaunas\, on the occasion of “Kaunas – European Capital of Culture 2022”. \nThe fifth event in the Follow the Waves series is dedicated to two important issues\, different while also being interconnected: THE ECOSYSTEM BETWEEN ART AND GLOBALIZATION. \nDuring last years the pandemic of Covid 19 has overwhelmed and forced us to reflect on our lives from a double perspective: on the one hand the intimate\, personal one\, strictly connected to the individual\, on the other on those involving the community and\, in particular\, the ecosystem and the impact of our choices on the environment. On the occasion of the next talk\, we will discuss about how the world is developing\, but heading in a direction that is anything but positive. \nHow can art play a role in the fight against climate change? How the artists responded to this period that has turned our lives upside down? SUMMARY:Performance: Yaryna Shumska – Terra Mater
DESCRIPTION:Yaryna Shumska is a Ukrainian performer who explores the concept of the human being as a catalyst for change in the primary meanings of places and situations. She attempts to reveal the dichotomy and ambiguity of what is real. The topics she addresses are mainly linked to places and memories of objects\, people and their invisible stories. \nHer performances are physically and emotionally connected to specific places and contexts\, through a careful and profound study of the elements above. \nFor her residency with Latitudo Art Projects\, she explored the building of Corviale in Rome with the idea of physically subverting the imposing and iconic form of the 1-kilometre-long structure. The artist collected opinions\, noises\, thoughts\, memories and stories\, which were then transformed into movements staged during a final collective performance. \nThe audio piece\, which was inserted as an audio installation during the performance\, evokes the constant flow of life within the building.
