La Fuga, 2019

Two Video installation, HD, colour, posters, fanzines

Duration: 6’09’’

Yves Mettler was born in Switzerland but he lives and works in Berlin. His work ranges from interventions in public space to sound installations. During his residency in Rome, the artist worked with the community of children and teenagers in Laurentino38, a working-class neighbourhood located south of Rome. Laurentino38 is known for the architectural presence of eleven bridges and for several signs of economic and social unease. The artist conceptually and playfully explores the social significance of public buildings. His models offer reflections on the complex aspects of these constructions, which go well beyond their practical functions. In the installation the comic strip created with the kids, a video installation and three posters show at the same time joys and sorrows, dreams and aspirations of a neighbourhood in the outskirts of Rome.
