Hand printed bed sheets

María Ángeles Vila Tortosa is a Spanish artist who lives and works between Rome and Valencia.

Her artistic practice addresses topics connected to the female world, domestic life, family affections, maternity and care, which are explored through the ancient technique of engraving, the artist’s preferred method of expression. The artwork created by the artist María Ángeles Vila Tortosa with Latitudo Art Projects consists of printed bed sheet representing selected plants linked to fertility, birth, miscarriage and the female world made during a workshop together with children and adults from the local community of Corviale neigborhood (Rome). The artist carved the linoleum plates, used during the workshop, with plants and symbols used in the antiquity for maternity. On this occasion visitors are invited to explore the female word through ancient symbols, plants and stories printed on the bed sheet.
